Greetings. Morale is high and the views are great here in Sonoma, California!
But for real, Sonoma is spacious and beautiful in a much different way than Mendocino, I’m learning a lot at this job, I’m drinking and eating some of the best food and wine I’ve ever had but I’ll be damned if this isn’t the craziest job I’ve ever had. 12 hour days, 6 days a week, using your body for all of it, dealing with machinery, expensive equipment, and chemicals. Life feels a bit out of balance right now. The learning curve has been incredibly steep and this job leaves little room for your personal life. Thankfully this job is both new and seasonal. I’m sure my stamina and organization will rise to the occasion and I’ll leave this job with money in my pocket, more winemaking knowledge, more strength, and a whole season of learning growth, and change.
I don’t have much in the way of words this issue but I did want to share a bunch of photos that give you a better idea of what Sonoma life and winery work is like.
Thanks for stopping by and for reading. I miss you all. Next week I’ll briefly be in my hometown of Lexington, KY for my sisters’ wedding. It’ll be a lighting paced 3-day trip filled with so much family and friends to catch up with. Wish me luck. Please stay in touch. I’ve written dozens of postcards and letters lately. If you’d like to receive one just hit me with that mailing address! Until next time, stay cool~
